The people behind the work

About Bespoke

Bespoke Design + Build is a Coeur d'Alene design-build firm led by Pablo and Kayce Ugas, built on the idea that design and construction should live under one roof, and that the people living in a project matter more than the project itself.

Pablo and Kayce Ugas

Pablo and Kayce own Bespoke Design + Build. Pablo spent a decade in software engineering before an old instinct pulled him back: childhood summers spent on his father’s construction sites. With no formal training in the trades, he started by building his own projects, then clients’ projects, and that work grew, one job at a time, into airplane hangars, organic pools, and custom homes. Kayce leads design and finishes, an instinct for listening she sharpened running one of the Pacific Northwest’s top salons, co-leading a team of fourteen stylists, reading what a client wants and translating it into something beautiful without heavy direction.

Neither came up through a traditional architecture or construction path, and that unconventional path is part of what shapes how Bespoke works. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2020. They’ve been married eleven years and are raising three kids. Bespoke grew out of the same idea that shapes their family life: a house should feel like the people living in it, not like a showroom.

The lazy river approach

At Bespoke, the project isn’t the focus, the people living in it are. Every decision, from pre-construction through the final walkthrough, is built around one question: does this feel effortless for the client? We call it the lazy river approach, grounded, like everything at Bespoke, in faith and integrity.

When we slow down to truly listen instead of leading with a signature style, the result reflects the people who live there, not a passing trend.

Most design-build firms are proud of what they build. We’re prouder of how we build it.

Esse quam videri

Esse quam videri. To be, not just to appear. It’s the motto Pablo and Kayce carry into every project: a focus on quality and authenticity, not just the look of it. That shows up in decisions most clients never see directly: choosing a material that performs well over one that just photographs well, or spending time getting a layout right before ever touching a finish selection.

Design with purpose

Bespoke’s approach starts with a real conversation, not a catalog of floor plans. Every project begins with listening: to the site, to the client, and to the details that will make a space actually live well for years, not just look good in the first season. From there, our in-house team carries the design through 3D visualization, permitting, and construction, without a handoff between a separate design firm and a separate contractor.

That “design and build under one roof” structure is the core of what makes Bespoke a design-build firm rather than a general contractor. When the team that draws the plans is the same team that builds them, design intent doesn’t get lost or reinterpreted along the way. It’s also why clients see the same faces, Pablo and Kayce among them, from the first sketch through the final walkthrough.

Why Coeur d’Alene

Pablo and Kayce chose to build their business and raise their family in Coeur d’Alene, and that local footing shapes how Bespoke operates: a crew that knows this region’s terrain, its winters, and the specific permitting realities of Kootenai and Shoshone counties, not a firm working the market from a distance.

Our team

A project this personal doesn’t happen with two people alone. Pablo and Kayce lead design and construction, Rebecca is usually the first voice a new client hears, Kate keeps the schedules and paperwork honest, Marin turns direction into drawings and finish selections, and Travis and Filip run the day-to-day work in the field. Every one of them is grounded in the same lazy river approach: listen first, and make the process feel effortless for the client.

Who you'll work with

Pablo Ugas, Founder + Managing Partner

Pablo Ugas

Founder + Managing Partner

Pablo leads Bespoke's projects from first conversation to final walkthrough. He spent a decade in software engineering before returning to an instinct rooted in childhood summers on his father's construction sites, and with no formal trades training, he began building his own projects, then clients' homes, hangars, and pools. That path is why Bespoke is built around the client and the process, not just the finished project.
